Deconstructed Book DIY

This is a super easy way to add a charming decoration to your holiday tray, table scape, or book shelf! The project was inspired by Canterbury Cottage …I thought I would try it with my own twist and share it with you!

What you need:

Old paperback books in a variety of sizes

Ribbon

Small bird nest

Small eggs or dried flowers

Rub’n Buff antique gold (optional)

Look for paperback books at your local thrift store. I found books priced from 99 cents to 3 dollars. Choose different size books that will stack nicely…larger on bottom…smallest on top.

Remove the covers…yep…just tear them off!

Select ribbons in your favorite colors or holiday theme.

Stack the books and tie them together with ribbon. If you want the stack to be permanently attached, add a small amount of craft glue between the books before adding the ribbon. I wanted flexibility for future projects so I did not glue the them together.

Embellish the top of the book stack with a small bird nest.

Fill the nest with dried flowers.

Soooo pretty!

Here is another example with velvet ribbon, mini colored eggs, and antiqued edges.

If you want to antique the books…brush a small dab of Rub ‘n Buff on the spine and sides of the books before tying them together.

I hope you will try this deconstructed DIY! Just think of the possibilities!
