Outdoor Patio Table Decor Idea
Simplicity Meets Sophistication
In this post I will guide you through the process of transforming your outdoor dining table into an enchanting mini garden using organic elements found in nature.
Some of the elements can be foraged from your backyard or during your next walk!
Supplies
Clay pots in various sizes and styles
Four weathered boards that fit the center of your table
Note: If you have an umbrella table, cut a whole in the boards to accommodate the umbrella pole. We cut 1/2 of a circle out of two boards so they can easily be separated and moved without removing the umbrella.
Additional supples are moss, twigs, curly sticks, two potted plants for color, and extra containers as necessary. I opted for an urn and two metal vessels filled with leftover Easter grass to enhance the arrangement.
Note: We have an abundance of moss in our area. After a rain storm it is easy to collect from the forest floor close to our house. If you do not have access to moss…you can use moss found at craft stores and online. Spray it with water to make it pliable and easy to arrange.
Assemble Your Tablescape
Place the boards in the center of your table and then arrange pots and containers on top of the boards. Place the tallest vessel in the middle and surround it with pots. Lay some of the pots on their sides to add interest.
Position the moss and twigs on top of the boards. Distribute pieces of the moss around and within the pots, allowing some to cascade from their edges.
Incorporate different moss varieties to add visual appeal.
Add potted plants for a pop of color. I chose two campanula plants that I found at Trader Joe’s.
Here is the top-down view. Notice how the pots and branches radiate from the center of the board.
Fill the center vessel with sticks, moss, and add a curly stick for height.
Water your arrangement as needed to maintain the lush green color of the moss. I use a watering can because it’s outside and okay if everything gets wet!
As summer arrives and the weather gets warm, remove the moss and store it in a cool space. Add heat resistant plants to your table arrangement such as succulents and your table arrangement will remain an easy care garden throughout the year!
