Elevate your Creative Workspace Storage with Crystal!

Creative hobbies often come with a unique set of challenges, including organizing and storing supplies efficiently. If you are like me, there is a perpetual struggle to balance functionality with aesthetics in my workspace.

If you're looking for a fun and inexpensive way to update and elevate your craft room storage, try a few thrifted crystal bowls, vases, and glassware.

Add Unique Style

In today's world of mass-produced storage solutions, there's something inherently charming about repurposing vintage or thrifted items to meet your organizational needs. Not only does it inject personality into your space, but it also adds a touch of nostalgia, especially if the pieces have been inherited from your mom or grandma.

I thrifted a few new pieces last week and foraged my cupboards to find several beautiful and functional pieces to place on my cutting table. And…they make me smile every time I see them!

The beauty of using crystal bowls, vases, and glasses lies not only in their elegance but also in their versatility. These items can serve a multitude of purposes in your craft room, from holding paintbrushes and markers to storing buttons, beads, and other small embellishments. With a little creativity, you can transform these ordinary pieces into functional works of art.

…and another bowl to hold fabric scrapes. The colors shine through the glass adding another element to your storage container.

What to Look For

When scouring thrift stores or rummaging through your own cupboards for potential storage vessels, there are a few key things to keep in mind. Look for pieces that are made of very clear glass, as clarity enhances the visual appeal.

Additionally, check for any stickers or markings that indicate where the piece was made. Light will reflect through better quality pieces and they may last longer…but…the most important factor is that you genuinely love the piece and that it serves its intended purpose and function.

Get Creative

Think outside the box and experiment with different shapes and sizes of crystal vessels. A vintage pedestal bowl might make the perfect home for spools of ribbon, while a tall, slender vase could corral your collection of knitting needles, fabric weights, specialty pens, and paint brushes.

Mixing and matching various pieces adds visual interest and dimension to your craft room.

Small bowls can hold pins or fabric clips…

Colored pencils or markers…

or any number of hobby supplies.

Arrange Your Storage

Once you've collected your thrifted treasures, it's time to put them to work. Arrange them on shelves, countertops, or even wall-mounted racks to create an organized and visually appealing storage solution. Don't be afraid to get creative with your arrangements—mixing heights, shapes, and textures can elevate the overall look of your space.

There is currently a huge supply of crystal-ware at thrift stores and you can buy them at very reasonable prices.

Repurposing is Always a Good Idea

Repurposing thrifted items for storage is not only budget-friendly but also environmentally conscious. By giving new life to old pieces that might otherwise end up in a landfill, you are reducing waste and embracing a more sustainable approach to crafting.

Watch For Crystal!

So the next time you're browsing through your local thrift store or perusing your grandma's attic, keep an eye out for those hidden gems that can a little sparkle to your craft room.

Happy crafting!
