If you need a little inspiration to make changes in your workspace…look for storage solutions! This is the cupboard that caused a major clean up and furniture SWITCHEROO in our barn studio.
I found it at a resale store during the summer and fell in love! I knew it would make a good storage cabinet for photo props that had been out of control for several months. So…we brought it home and hauled it up the stairs to the studio.
My goal was to store all the props neatly and efficiently so I could remove the table that was taking up precious floor space.
The cupboard had one shelf and one large drawer so I used plate racks and wire shelves to utilize every inch of the space.
What started as a simple "put away” project turned into an inspired “move everything” project.
After all the props were put away…the furniture moved around the room!
The mail hutch was turned to make the back accessible as a backdrop for photos. I absolutely love the color and it created an easy “on demand” photo station.
All the chippy furniture moved to a single location and many of the cluttered spaces breathed new life!
The lights and other photography equipment have a condensed space and the long table was moved to the windows. The natural light is very nice there and the big table has space for several vignettes.
Now there are several new photo “stations”…
…and open floor space!
It feels like a fresh start to the creative process and it all started with a white cupboard!
The cupboard also makes a nice backdrop for photos! That was a bonus surprise! And…it’s fun to decorate for the holidays!
If your workspace needs a refresh…maybe all you need is a little SWITCHEROO to get you started!
