Do you have an area in your home that is a catch-all space for winter clothing and gloves? Tired of tripping over shoes and boots? Here is a quick and easy way to organize and clean up shoe storage/mudroom areas.
Before re-organizing a space in your home...ask yourself how the room will be used. What are the constraints? Make notes to prioritize functionality and then remove clutter and repurpose items that are no longer useful. Imagine different space configurations and research storage options. If you have a narrow space like ours...vertical storage is a great option!
These shoe cabinets from IKEA are only 12" wide and are available in three colors...white, gray, and dark brown. They shipped quickly and arrived in good shape. Assembly was straightforward and they attach to the wall making them very secure.
Each fold-down drawer holds two layers of large shoes. (size 13) There is also an option to remove the center divider to store ankle high boots.
Each cabinet has a small drawer for gloves, hats, and other essentials. We purchased two cabinets and added art pieces and hanging hooks for coats.
Extra storage bins sit on the shelf and a large wood "growth chart" is attached to the back of a door for easy access. The space has been transformed!
I was impressed by the quality of design and the price of these cabinets. They look nice enough for a formal entry....just add a mirror above and you may never trip over shoes again!
