"If you'll be my sweetheart and if you'll be true, I'll love you sincerely my whole lifetime through" ~ Vintage Valentine

Hello Valentine!

Okay...I know it is still January but it's never too early to think about Valentine Day. And...with the rainy weather we are having in the pacific northwest...thinking about hearts is a nice distraction. One of my goals this year....plan and post holiday themed content further ahead of the holiday. Then....YOU will have more time to plan and implement ideas that you find inspiring.

So...let's start with Valentines in January!

Wondering how Valentine Day started?  I was....because...my word for 2020 is Curiosity!

The holiday was originally a Roman fertility celebration called Lupercalia. Then it was changed to a Christian holiday named after Saint Valentine but no one really knows which of three Saint Valentines it references. You can learn all about the history of Valentine Day in a short video here.

Vintage Valentine Cards

I have a small collection of vintage valentine cards....some of which I recently found falling out the back of my desk drawer....oops! They were a little bent but became the inspiration for this week's newsletter.

Cherub faces....and a kitten with a gingham bow....so cute!

Check your local vintage or thrift store for old cards and stationary....you just might be able to reuse them!

Winter is a great time to browse shops for little bits and bobs you can use to make cards...or glue into your journal....think....lace....and buttons....and old postcards!

Valentine Card Party

Our daughter was born on February 1st and many of her birthday parties had a valentine theme. Hearts, and cookie decorating, and card making. It was so much fun I started inviting my adult friends to my studio to make cards.
