We've been experimenting with using bamboo for our printing blocks, and we're really excited about the results. Check it out.

Not only is bamboo a more sustainable material (which we love!), but it also seems to perform great over time. Bamboo has a much tighter grain than other wood-based materials we've tried printing with. This means there's less water absorption and warping when we clean and dry the blocks between prints, leading to more crisp, clean prints in the life of a block. We're always looking to improve our product and process, so we're excited to be incorporating bamboo.
We're still learning how it cuts and which types of prints it works well for. Right now the printing blocks require a bit of extra hand sanding before they're ready to print with, but we'll continue to experiment and find out what works best.

Here are a few fun facts about bamboo and the reasons why we love it:
- it's a renewable resource; bamboo is typically harvested in 1-5 years from planting
- it's one of the few cash crops that require no agricultural chemicals to grow and thrive
- it absorbs greenhouse gases and releases 35% more oxygen than hardwoods
