Dandelions, Sunflowers, Lace, Pumpkins, and Vintage Finds

“The man (or women) who worries morning and night about the dandelions in the lawn will find great relief in loving the dandelions.”
- Liberty Hyde Bailey
During the summer our field grass turns brown and massive amounts of dandelions appear…seemly out of nowhere! They are very hardy and their wiry stems refuse to be cut with the mower. So…this year I decided to embrace the yellow flowers and incorporate them into a Fall photo shoot.
Fall is a good time to incorporate different textures in your decor. Think outside the box and use pieces of lace, a vintage table runner, or camping gear like these plaid thermos bottles.
Use hand-me-downs, thrift store finds, wool sweaters, and other treasures you have collected to decorate your home. Open your closets and see what you find!
Picnic baskets to add height to your arrangements and thermos lids can multi-task as shallow flower vases.
Place lace doilies in a basket and fill it with mini pumpkins. The contrast of texture and color is very pretty!
When your field (or garden) is full of dandelions….make a bouquet!
Use lace or embroidered pillowcases for table runners, basket liners, or as intended…on your bed!
“Beautiful as a dandelion-blossom golden in the green grass, this life can be.”- Edna St. Vincent Millay
If you don’t have dandelions….lucky you…use sunflowers instead!
