3 Ways to use Mittens for Holiday Decor

You never know when inspiration will strike!

I recently took myself on an “Artist Date” to explore some of my favorite vintage and craft stores. I always enjoy these days and often find something that sparks a new idea. This time the spark was a small pair of red mittens.

So…I thought I would share three ways you can use them to decorate for the holidays!

One: Mitten Vase

I found red mittens (inspiration!) and vases at our local Dollar Tree. A six inch vase works perfectly with a child size mitten. You will need two vases for each pair of mittens.

Slip a vase inside a mitten and tie a ribbon bow at the top. Gently drop a few rocks in the bottom of the vase to add weight for stability. Fill the vase with water and then add fresh greens! So simple and so cute!!!

Use as many mittens at you wish…line them up in the center of your table, then add more greens and twinkle lights around the base of the mittens.

Two: Mitten Flatware Holder

Place a set of flatware inside a mitten and tie a ribbon at the top. Place the mitten on top of each plate at your table. This is a simple and festive way to add color and whimsy to your tablescape.

Three: Mitten Garland

Clip mittens to an existing garland or make your own with yarn and pom poms!

Bonus Ideas:

Use small mittens to wrap gift cards or tie them to a package inplace of a bow. I used both of these ideas with small knit stockings a couple of years ago!
