How to Arrange Lilacs in a Pedestal Vase

“Continue to grow and evolve.” Mahatma Gandhi

I enrolled in an online mini film making workshop last year and I’m slowing working through the lessons. Making little videos is a ton of fun…and it causes my brain to think in different ways. It is a way of “evolving” my creative thought process that is very enjoyable, frustrating at times, and forces me to learn new things.

One of the lessons in the workshop is to create a “how to” film…another lesson is to use “voice over”…so…I combined them in a mini flower arranging video that I hope will inspire you to grab your clippers and make an arrangement of your own.

Learning new things is messy and frustrating and imperfect…but like Ms. Frizzle from the Magic School Bus says…“Take chances, make mistakes, and get messy!” And I would add to that…let yourself be playful and vulnerable!

If you have six minutes…grab a coffee and enjoy the video!

Are there a million things I would change in this video? Yes! But…I learned so many things and I’m happy that I “made the mess.”

Next time it will be easier…and that is the beauty of evolving…the more you do it…the easier it will be. Right?

Lilacs lend themselves to drapey style arrangements so let them do the thing they do best!

When you are finished with your arrangement…gather a few “accessories” like a special tea cup, or ribbon, or a bowl of chocolates to create a vignette. These add to the story of the flowers and will make you smile every time you pass them.

“Life is about evolving. Don’t stay in a situation that’s not helping you grow mentally, spiritually, and emotionally.” ~Anonymous
