Home Decor Trends 3

"The light in winter is most varied; there are days when it's clear and bright, carving the earth into light and shadow like a razor. Yet, at times, the light can be soft and quiet as a whisper, with color of the most intense chromatic variations anyone could ever need."

~ Peter Fiore

When I found the description of winter light by Peter Fiore it seemed similar to my observations but I was not sure. And then....that very night the sky was on fire with the "most intense chromatic variations anyone could every need". The sunset was EXTRAORDINARY....as if the words from this poem were coming to life right before my eyes. I call that synchronicity..."the simultaneous occurrence of events which appear significantly related but have no discernable causal connection" ~dictionary.com  And so his words are part of our letter today.

Chasing the Light

I have been studying light this week because I would like to become a better photographer and light can change an image from mediocre to WOW!

Have you ever just sat and observed how light comes through a window or creates patterned shadows on your dining room table?  Winter light is a fickle thing. Sometimes bright as summer and sometimes soft and mysterious.

This week, we’ll cover the last part of our trends series from Maison & Objet in Paris: Velvet and Suede.

Velvet continues to be a popular trend in home decor. Who can resist these rich colors and texture?I

I also found many new products made with suede. Maybe it was inspired by the velvet trend? These suede trays and art pieces were stunning!

This is an excerpt from our bi-weekly newsletter. Read more about these, a few other miscellaneous trends and what’s going on in the studio in the full article Here
